There’s been a lot of talk lately about HyFlex teaching. In a HyFlex class, students can choose whether to attend online, or in-person, on a lesson-by-lesson basis. Does that sound difficult to manage? Watch this video for an example of how one faculty member with Health and Human Performance, Kyle Patek, makes this style of teaching really work. Kyle highlights three important takeaways to keep in mind when teaching in this format:
- Know how to use the technology.
- Use active learning strategies.
- Remember your online students.

Kyle does an excellent job showing how to use the camera to his advantage for both in class and online students. I love how he incorporates simple methods to keep all students engaged regardless of where they are or even when they take the class (if they decide to do it asynchronously).
